What’s wrong with me? Will I ever be enough? Is this all there is for me? If my upbringing was like this or like that; then things would be different for me... I feel so inadequate... I am never going to get out of this…. Does that sound all too familiar? I can relate, those were some of my thoughts and so many more; that is until I completely started using my weapon.
For though we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh. The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We tear down arguments and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Cor 10:3
There is a weapon every believer possess to destroy the stronghold of bad and negative thinking. My bad thinking in the PAST has caused me to miss out on a lot of things and truthfully relationships with good people. There were times in my life, and if you were to have a truth moment in yours, where we wonder, how did we get here. To the space in our minds or the physical space we are at. Chances are it was with our thinking. How we thought about something and the way we responded in our thinking. There was a study which was done by Dr. Newberg who is the Director of Research at Thomas Jefferson hospital. This study concluded that the more we focus on something – whatever that may be the more it becomes our reality.
Did you know that our thoughts are very powerful? They are comprised of information that our brain takes in and sends to our minds. (THIS PART GETS INTERESTING). Our minds is the place of where our thoughts (the feeling part of us) is the gatekeeper. I find it interesting that God HIMSELF would penned that we must renew our minds. (The place of where our thoughts are)… If we do not take the time, daily I might add to renew our minds, it will remained with, clutter, negative and past thoughts. If we get enough of them we will end up in a state of questioning, “How did I get here?” But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.”
If we don’t renew our minds, our thoughts can led us astray. Why is this important, our thoughts become words and our words/language affects our reality whether intentional or unintentional. This is why it’s imperative that we fill our minds which are where our thoughts are with positive affirmations. We should feed on the word of God until it penetrates in our spirit, where it deposits life and energy in our thought process.
Some ways in which we can use our weapon is by changing our thoughts, which will change our behavior are:
• Make declarations
• Replace negative with positive thoughts
• Focus for 12 minutes a day in prayer over an 8 week period
• Write it! Think it! Confess it! Believe it!
Remember that we have a weapon to conquer those negative, self-degraded, paralyzing, fearful, strongholds (thoughts) and take them captive under the obedience of Christ Jesus.
